From 6 to 8 October, 2017; Tra Fish and Vietnamese Seafood products fair organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Directorate of Fisheries in the Agricultural Exhibition Centre at address No. 489 Hoang Quoc Viet, Cau Giau district, Ha Noi

The fair was organized specially for seafood products, held in Ha Noi at the first time to promote the image, brand of Vietnamese Tra Fish and other seafood products to the domestic market in general and the Northern Market. Besides that it is also an opportunity to introduce Vietnamese seafood products to ambassadors of other countries, unions, and alliances in whose office in Ha Noi.

The fair attracted nearly 100 booths of 40 domestic and foreign enterprises, showcasing seafood products such as tra fish, value added products and auxiliary products for tra fish production and other key Vietnamese seafood items to visitors and customers.

Received the participation invitation from Directorate of Fisheries, the project “Sustainable and Equitable Shrimp Production Value Chain Development in Vietnam” funded by The Europe Union and co-implemented by ICAFIS and Oxfam in Vietnam has a booth to exhibit the Vietnam shrimp value chain, especially the products applying VietGap and ASC standard and other value added products produced by shrimp cooperatives/farmer groups.

In the exhibition booth, besides information about ICAFIS, Oxfam in Vietnam, SusV project, there were also big-size black tiger shrimp, white leg shrimp, crab, shrimp crackers (40% made from shrimp), dry shrimp,  fermented shrimp… from Thanh Dat shrimp cooperative as a representative of 30 cooperatives/farmer groups benefited from the project. For three days of fair, 95% of products were sold out to visitors, it demonstrates the shrimp products produced by the cooperatives/farmer groups applying Vietgap and ASC standard and facilitated by the project have good attraction by domestic market, especially Northern market.

Vietnam shrimp industry, around 95% of produced shrimp volume are exported and most of processing/exporting companies pay little interest in domestic market. Meanwhile Vietnam market with population of more than 90 million people, increasing living standard is the potential market, not yet explored fully. To customers, especially customers in Northern part of Vietnam have a little information about the Tra fish and shrimp products produced by farmers from the Southern part of Vietnam. Hence, the fair was a good opportunity for SusV project to promote Vietnam shrimp brand for Vietnam customers as well as find partners to promote Vietnam shrimp in both domestic and international market.
