PROJECT “MOVING TOWARD MODEL CITIES FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT IN COASTAL NORTHEAST VIETNAM”

Location: Cat Ba Archipelago, Hai Phong Province, and Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam.
Timing: 2018-2020
Objectives : Reduce marine plastic pollution in the Cat Ba Archipelago, Hai Phong Province, and Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. Implement a public awareness-raising campaign, and marine debris surveys will support the project to increase the community’s engagement in reducing marine plastic pollution and recycling.
Activities:
- Research, undertake a pilot and implement the suitable technological solution identified to replacing polystyrene buoyancy devices in the floating farms .
- Implement community monitoring program in prevent incident
- Raising awareness of local community and monitoring the waste from marine debris plastic .
- Discussions with local authorities to improve enforcement of environmental protection regulations to better managing floating waste
