Currently, shrimp farming is the main source of income for about one million people in Vietnam, 80% of whom are small-scale farmers. Additionally, the shrimp sector provides jobs for nearly three million workers in processing plants. Therefore, value chain linkages are essential for sustainable development, connecting farmers, businesses, and regulators. The project "Sustainable and Equitable Shrimp Value Chain Development in Vietnam (SusV)", implemented by Oxfam in Vietnam in partnership with ICAFIS, has been carried out in Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau provinces. After half of its implementation period, the project has achieved encouraging results, widely covered by the media. To share insights and foster stakeholder engagement, Oxfam and the Information and Communications Publishing House released the book “Value Chain and Growth Potential for Vietnamese Shrimp”, a collection of notable articles on Vietnam’s shrimp industry published between 2016 and 2018. The content covers strategic development directions for agriculture, value chain linkages, financial policies, expert analyses, and successful shrimp farming models in the Mekong Delta. The book aims to help readers better understand the project’s goals and the dedication of those involved, serving as a bridge between shrimp farmers, enterprises, experts, and policymakers, contributing to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction in Vietnam.
