The “Blue Ocean – Blue Foods: Building a Carbon Sink for the Fisheries Sector” program is an initiative launched on July 6, 2024, by the International Cooperation Center for Sustainable Aquaculture and Fisheries (ICAFIS) – Vietnam Fisheries Association, in collaboration with the Vietnam Department of Fisheries. One of the program’s goals is to cultivate at least 1,000 hectares of seaweed within the first three years of the project.
Alongside this, JapiFoods Co., Ltd. is partnering with the program by contributing 10% of its annual revenue to support ICAFIS in conducting activities and providing free seaweed seedlings to coastal communities participating in the program.
To support this goal, ICAFIS, as the program coordinator, has developed a Seaweed Cultivation Guide. This document offers detailed technical instructions on seaweed farming, from seed selection to care and harvesting methods, helping farmers to understand and apply effective techniques to ensure sustainable development and contribute to global climate change mitigation efforts.
The guide is based on successful research results and experimental materials; however, it may still contain errors or omissions. We warmly welcome feedback and contributions from readers to improve this guide in the future.
