On November 2, 2016. International Collaborating center for Aquaculture and Fisheries sustainability (ICAFIS), OXFAM collaborated with Soc Trang Agriculture and Rural Development Department to review the results of farming construct between the VinaCleanFood company with cooperative / farmer groups in Soc Trang province.
Farming contracts between VinaCleanFood company with 10 shrimp cooperatives / farmer groups in Soc Trang Province are signed in a dialogue co-organized by SusV project in September 2016, ICAFIS and OXFAM and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Soc Trang in September, 2016. After nearly 01 months of implementing the contracts, in order to promote the linkage, bring benefits to the parties involved, and ensure the compliance with the signed contracts. SusV project worked with other stakeholders to organize the meeting to review the results of farming contracts between the VinaCleanFood Company and cooperative / farmer groups in Soc Trang.
Participating in the meeting, there were representatives from the Soc Trang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), Fisheries Department, Aquaculture Seed Center, Department of Quality Management ... Soc Trang province, the VinaCleanFood company, ICAFIS, OXFAM, Soc Trang Television, My Thanh Shrimp Association and 11 cooperative / farmer groups shrimp in Soc Trang.
The representatives of VINACLEANFOOD Company and 11 shrimp cooperative / farmer groups presented difficulties in implementing the farming contracts such as low yield, harvesting cost, Weight and size measurement. The representatives of Soc Trang DARD and ICAFIS shared the need of sharing and supporting spirit from both shrimp cooperatives/farmer groups and companies for shrimp value chain development now and in future.
At the end of the meeting, based on the sharing and supporting spirit for the sustainable shrimp value chain development, the representatives of parties have committed to work together to solve difficulties in implementing the farming contracts. In addition, the management committee of the cooperatives/farmer groups will improve group management to ensure the high quality shrimp and big yield for the company. The local authorities, SusV project, ICAFIS and Oxfam will promote the collaborations to support the production inputs and outputs for the sustainable value chain and the brand of Vietnam shrimp.
