International Collaborating Center of Aquaculture and Fisheries Sustainability (ICAFIS) under the Vietnam Fisheries Society has just been awarded medals "For the economic development of Vietnam rural  agriculture" for the first time by Economic Committee of Congress coordinated with the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam, Brands and Public Opinion Magazine. This ceremony was held on 25 January 2015 at the Opera House in Hanoi.

Established in 2010, ICAFIS has made great progress, the Centre has deployed more than 40 projects of research, consultancy, science and technology transfer and development projects contributed to improve production efficiency, sales, image, brand competitiveness of Vietnam's fisheries sector; support capacity building of people and small and medium enterprises to actively participate in the integration with the international community.

ICAFIS has tight relationship with the Directorate of Fisheries; Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); OXFAM; WWF; Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH); Netherlands Development Organization (SNV); United Sates Agency for International Development (USAID); World Bank (World Bank); Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Fund for Agricultural Development of the United Nations (IFAD), ICASEA ...

Three times ICAFIS was honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Fisheries Society and won the prize of CODE OF PRACTICE ON TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS (CSOs).

The prize is very important, confirmed the contribution of in particular and the honor of the Vietnam Fisheries Society in general, especially in time when the country jubilantly celebrate National Party Congress XII, 70 th anniversary of the August Revolution, 70th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and 70 years anniversary of the Vietnam National Assembly.
